Hall County Government announced on May 15 that draft revisions to its Unified Development Code (UDC) are now available for public review and comment on the Hall County website.
The UDC sets the framework for development in Hall County, so these proposed changes may affect how neighborhoods, businesses, and infrastructure grow in the future. Community members are encouraged to participate by reviewing the drafts and providing feedback to ensure that updates reflect local needs.
Planning and Zoning Director Katie Ahmed said, “Community input is vital to the successful planning of future growth in Hall County. While staff does an incredible job drafting updates, the only way to ensure they align with community expectations is through community feedback.”
The draft revisions include new ordinances related to reversion and data centers, creation of new Residential Single-Family Detached (RSF) and Residential Single-Family Attached (RTH) districts, as well as updates to several existing zoning districts such as Residential Mixed (RX), Residential Multi-Family (RMF), Mixed Use (MU), and Planned Development (PD). The proposal also includes changes to use provisions, site development standards, and minor adjustments to the Comprehensive Plan so it aligns with UDC modifications. Residents can submit comments online until 5 p.m. Monday, June 15. In addition to online participation, three in-person outreach meetings will take place: June 2 at Mulberry Creek Community Center; June 4 at Hall County Government Center; and June 9 at North Hall Community Center—all from 6-8 p.m.
For context about local demographics: Hispanic students were the most represented ethnic group within Hall County schools during the 2022-23 school year at 51.1%, while white students made up 36.5%, black students comprised 7.9%, multiracial students accounted for 3.2%, total enrollment was reported as 33,586 students, representing a drop of about 1.9% from the previous year according to the Georgia Department of Education.
