State Representative Jordan Ridley of Woodstock has expressed approval following the Georgia House’s passage of House Bill 845, which aims to institute an internal auditor for the Cherokee County Board of Education.
Upon the bill’s passage, Rep. Ridley stated, “I am grateful for the House’s action on this local legislation aimed at increasing transparency in our school system.” This measure is designed to enhance accountability and boost community confidence in the integrity of the education system. Ridley is hopeful for the bill’s further progress, noting, “I look forward to the support of my Senate colleagues on this measure and its final passage.”
The bill stipulates that the auditor must be a certified internal auditor or certified public accountant with at least five years of experience. This individual would be nominated by members of the Georgia General Assembly representing the school district. The role involves auditing school system records and conducting regular performance and financial audits over one and five-year periods.
