Mack Guest, a Republican candidate for Georgia House District 121, has outlined his priorities should he be elected. He said that his focus will be on public safety, education, transportation, and tax relief. Guest is urging conservatives to participate in the upcoming special election scheduled for December 9.
“I want to focus on the issues that matter most to the people who call this district home, and to me, that means keeping our communities safe, strengthening education, improving transportation, and providing tax relief,” said Guest, according to Facebook. “In Atlanta, every decision I make will be for our families, for our businesses, and for our values. That’s what this campaign is all about: standing up for hardworking Georgians!”
The special election will determine who will succeed former Representative Marcus Wiedower in a significant race covering parts of Oconee County and southeast Athens-Clarke. Mack “Dutch” Guest IV, a Republican businessman, is competing against Democrat Eric Gisler. With early voting already underway in both counties, Guest is concentrating on local issues such as public safety and tax relief while cautioning Republicans about the potential consequences of low voter turnout.
According to Guest, tax relief is a central theme of his campaign. He has communicated to local Republicans his intention to lower Georgia’s income tax and close corporate loopholes if the levy is phased out, rather than transferring the financial burden onto families. He aims to return more money to district residents by scrutinizing existing credits and exemptions to offset any rate cuts. Capitol Beat has reported that state leaders are considering reducing some incentives and special-interest tax breaks as part of broader efforts to alleviate income tax burdens while maintaining essential services.
Guest emphasized his experience managing LAD Truck Lines, a logistics company based in Watkinsville that he operates with his father. This experience, he said, taught him valuable skills such as listening and problem-solving. On the campaign trail, he has expressed particular interest in improving transportation infrastructure, including major corridors like Georgia 316 and other vital roads supporting commuters and commerce in the Athens area. Additionally, Guest has pledged support for law enforcement agencies to ensure they have necessary resources.
Mack “Dutch” Guest IV describes himself as a lifelong Republican who resides in Oconee County with his family. As a small business owner leading LAD Truck Lines for over two decades, his campaign biography highlights nearly twenty years of experience in transportation and workforce management. His past roles include serving as president of the Oconee County Rotary Club and the Touchdown Club of Athens along with volunteer work coaching youth sports. Elect Dutch Guest Inc., his campaign committee, portrays him as a commonsense conservative dedicated to fostering safe communities, strong schools, improved roads, and reduced taxes for working Georgians.
