Kandiss Taylor, Republican candidate for Congress in Georgia District 1, said activists gathered at Forsyth Park to support removing ICE and oppose arresting a drug lord while federal efforts aim to block vessels carrying illicit substances into local areas.
“america first means protecting americans first,” said Kandiss S Taylor, Congress Candidate. “if drug boats are headed toward our shores… toward our precious georgia ports… carrying fentanyl and death into our communities… is it not common sense to stop them. while families are begging for help to fight fentanyl… while our ports and communities are under threat… they’re protesting efforts to stop the flow of deadly drugs. we put georgians and americans first.”
According to Taylor, she shared on X details of a morning protest at Forsyth Park in Savannah where groups advocated against federal immigration enforcement and the arrest of a narcotics figure. The post featured a video showing attendees with signs and flags under tree-lined paths and connected the event to broader resistance against stopping drug-laden boats approaching Georgia ports. Replies included discussions on constitutional protest rights and local workforce issues.
Georgia recorded 2,649 fentanyl-involved overdose deaths in 2023, with projections estimating 2,510 for 2024 as synthetic opioids drove 78 percent of cases statewide. Ports in Savannah and nearby areas faced major trafficking attempts including a 1,585-pound methamphetamine seizure valued at $22.5 million in 2025. January 2026 saw multiple Savannah demonstrations against immigration actions resulting in arrests for road blockages during marches to city hall.
Provisional national data indicated 77,648 overdose deaths for the year ending March 2025, representing a 25 percent drop from prior periods. Fentanyl contributed to 72,776 fatalities in 2023 amid a broader decline linked to reduced drug use exposure. Coast Guard operations interdicted over 511,000 pounds of cocaine worth $3.8 billion in 2025 through patrols in eastern Pacific and Caribbean zones.
Taylor previously ran as a Republican in the 2022 Georgia gubernatorial primary election where she finished third with 3.42 percent of votes. She hosted the “Jesus, Guns, and Babies” show as a conservative commentator. Taylor participated in the United States Senate special election in Georgia during 2020-21 and gained endorsements from Georgia Right to Life along with figures like Mike Lindell.
