Jon Burns, Republican Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, said the Georgia House plans to partner with the governor and assembly on initiatives to improve resident well-being.
“It was an honor to stand beside Gov. Kemp as he delivered his final State of the State Address,” said Burns. “The House looks forward to working alongside Governor Kemp and the General Assembly to advance a strong, commonsense agenda that makes life better for each of our neighbors.”
Burns statement made to a January 16 social media post on X was in response to Governor Kemp’s State of the State Address. The statement emphasizes a legislative partnership focused on benefiting residents.
Georgia currently has a population of 11,413,800, ranking it eighth in the nation with a density of 192 people per square mile. The state reports a median household income of $74,664 and a per capita income of $48,542. Economic forecasts suggest a growth rate of 1.5 percent in 2026, with an unemployment rate projected at 4.1 percent. Key sectors contributing to this growth include film, logistics, and agriculture.
The broader U.S. economic outlook anticipates a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expansion of 1.3 percent in 2026, with national unemployment expected to average around 4.7 percent amid uncertainties in policy and workforce trends. Federal statistics indicate that growth rates are influenced by population dynamics and trade factors.
