Traffic on I-85 near North Druid Hills Road will be affected by a series of lane closures and detours starting Friday, September 5. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced that one right lane on I-85 southbound from Clairmont Road to Lenox Road will be closed.
For motorists traveling eastbound or westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 southbound, the recommended route is via the I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road. Drivers coming from Corporate Drive to I-85 southbound should use the I-85 southbound Frontage Road, SR 42/North Druid Hills Road, I-85 northbound Frontage Road, and Clairmont Road.
Overnight closures are scheduled from Friday, September 5 through Sunday, September 7 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound from Briarcliff Road to I-85 will be closed during this period. Additionally, three right or left lanes on both directions of I-85 between Clairmont Road and Lenox Road will close until 5 a.m.
Motorists traveling eastbound or westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85 northbound should also use the suggested detour routes involving the northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road. For those heading from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to the I-85 northbound Frontage Road, GDOT recommends using I-85 northbound, Clairmont Road, and then the southbound Frontage Road.
Further overnight closures are planned for Monday, September 8 through Saturday, September 13 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., affecting various lanes along these same corridors. One right lane on the I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills eastbound will also close starting Thursday and ending Friday.
GDOT advises drivers to expect delays in these areas and encourages caution while passing through work zones. Motorists can access real-time updates about traffic conditions by calling Georgia’s travel information line at 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
