Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) have started replacing signs on Interstate 85 northbound in Troup County. The work is taking place at Mileposts 2, 13, and 17 and will continue until January 14, 2026.

Lane closures are scheduled daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., which may cause traffic delays for drivers in the area. The affected locations are near Exits 13 and 14, which connect to State Route 219, and Exit 17, just north of Exit 18 for SR 109.

Motorists are advised that dates could change due to weather or other factors. Drivers should expect possible delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed when traveling through these work zones.

For up-to-date information on work status and traffic conditions, travelers can call 511, visit the GDOT’s real-time traffic website at https://511ga.org/, or use the Georgia 511 app.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, “Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways. We’re involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs. And we help local governments maintain their roads. Georgia DOT and its nearly 4,000 employees are committed to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility. The Department’s vision is to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.”
