Traffic on I-95 North at the Exit 87 interchange bridge over US 17 in Richmond Hill, Georgia, will be shifted to the left starting early morning September 9. The change is part of a bridge maintenance project managed by L. C. Whitford Co., Inc.
According to officials, all three lanes of northbound traffic will move left as part of maintenance staging plans. While traffic will continue during the work, drivers should expect nighttime delays as crews install the shift.
The new traffic pattern is expected to remain for three weeks. Overnight, the number of open lanes will decrease: from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., two lanes will be available; from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., only one lane may be open as bridge maintenance continues.
Motorists are advised that this area is a work zone and should reduce speed and use caution while traveling through it. “Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.”
