Traffic on Interstate 95 South at the Exit 87 interchange bridge over US 17 in Richmond Hill will be shifted east beginning Tuesday, August 5, as part of a bridge maintenance project by L. C. Whitford Co., Inc. The change will use the inside shoulder to accommodate all three lanes.
Drivers are advised to expect significant delays on August 3 and 4 due to striping modifications ahead of the traffic shift. There will be a double lane closure overnight on August 4 to put the new traffic pattern in place. All work is dependent on weather conditions.
Overnight on Friday, August 15, the number of open lanes will be reduced from three to two through Monday, August 18, while remaining maintenance is completed. This work aims to extend the lifespan of the bridge.
“Motorists are reminded that this is a WORK ZONE and are advised to obey reduced speed limits and exercise extreme caution travelling through this area. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.”
