The Atlanta Falcons provided updates on the rehabilitation progress of several key players as phase III of organized team activities began, according to a May 19 statement. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Bralen Trice, Troy Andersen, and Billy Bowman Jr. are each progressing well in their respective recoveries from injuries.
Stefanski said that all three are “doing really well” and emphasized that they are at different stages in their recovery timelines. “They’re all in different stages of what they can do and when. You’ll see some guys, when we go to individual, go off to the side and do some individual work. Everybody is on a good timeline. I’m very pleased with how they’re working,” Stefanski said.
Bowman was a fourth-round pick by Atlanta in the 2025 NFL Draft and made an immediate impact before being sidelined by injuries last season. He played four games before suffering a hamstring injury, returned for two more games after recovery, but then sustained an Achilles injury requiring surgery prior to Week 12.
Trice missed his rookie year after tearing his ACL during the preseason opener in Miami as a third-round pick in 2024. Andersen suffered a knee injury early in the 2024 season, attempted to return later that year but ultimately went on injured reserve after additional games missed.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who partially tore his ACL last season against Carolina, was also seen participating in practice drills except for full team periods. “Mike’s been doing a very good job,” Stefanski said. “As I’ve told you guys since the beginning, his main focus is getting healthy. And he’s doing that… So, you will see Mike out there in individual, you will see him in the 7-on-7 (periods). He’s not doing team periods yet, but that time is coming.”
The Atlanta Falcons compete as part of the National Football League’s NFC South division and are based in Atlanta, Georgia; they have advanced to two Super Bowls since joining as an expansion team in 1965 according to the official website.
