ATLANTA — On April 4, Senator Kenya Wicks presented a resolution recognizing Michael S. ‘Killer Mike’ Render at the Georgia Capitol. The Grammy Award-winning artist, entrepreneur, and Atlanta native was honored for his contributions to music, political advocacy, and his support of historically marginalized communities in Georgia.
In her presentation, Senator Wicks highlighted Killer Mike’s role as a co-founder of Greenwood, a digital banking platform focused on reducing economic disparities and broadening financial opportunities in underserved areas. She also acknowledged his longstanding efforts in advocating for criminal justice, prison reform, voting rights, and police accountability.
“Killer Mike has profoundly impacted Atlanta not only through music but also through philanthropy and community service,” said Senator Wicks. “His legacy in business, public service and the music industry is a prime example of the talent Atlanta has to offer. His work will leave a lasting impact on communities across our city and state. His passion for education, the arts and the city of Atlanta reflects the best of Georgia, and I was proud to recognize him on Atlanta Day.”
The resolution was presented at the “404 Day” or “Atlanta Day” celebration, which takes place annually to honor the spirit and legacy of Georgia’s capital city. This event brings together Atlanta natives and representatives from key local organizations.
