The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced a series of lane and ramp closures as part of the ongoing 16@95 Improvement Projects. These projects involve widening I-16 and reconstructing the I-16/I-95 Interchange, with additional bridge work at both the I-16/I-95 and I-16/I-516 interchanges.

Closures will take place between Tuesday, September 2, and Saturday, September 6, affecting both daytime and nighttime hours. Daytime closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while nighttime closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on various segments of I-16, I-95, and I-516. Double-lane closures are planned for specific sections of I-95 near the I-16 overpass during night hours.

Detours have been outlined for affected ramps, with Georgia DOT coordinating these to avoid overlapping disruptions. Only one ramp in either interchange will be closed at any given time to maintain traffic flow.

A long-term closure remains in effect on Tremont Road under I-16 until October 19, 2025. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Telfair Road and West Gwinnett Street to access areas north or south of I-16.

Labor Day holiday work restrictions will be enforced from noon on Friday, August 29, through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. No road closures or construction activities that interfere with traffic will take place during this period except for the ongoing Tremont Road closure.

Future lane and ramp closures are also scheduled for September 8 through September 20, following similar patterns as earlier dates. The locations, dates, and times of all projected closures may change depending on weather conditions or project requirements.
