Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close a lane on I-285 westbound between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive. The closure is scheduled from Friday, July 18, through Thursday, July 24. This is to facilitate paving and widening operations for the new auxiliary lane. If weather conditions are unfavorable, the work will be rescheduled for Friday, July 25, through Thursday, July 31.
The continuous closure will occur from Friday at 8 p.m. to Thursday at 6 a.m., affecting the single outside lane on I-285 westbound between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive. The project extends the auxiliary lane and reconstructs the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.
This project is part of the I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects under the MMIP projects across Georgia. These projects aim to increase capacity for freight movement, improve operational efficiencies and safety, and reduce travel times on transportation networks.
Motorists should expect delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones. They are advised to reduce speed, stay alert, and watch for workers. For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, motorists can call 511 or visit 511ga.org.
