The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced upcoming lane and ramp closures as part of the 16@95 Improvement Projects. These projects involve widening I-16 and reconstructing the I-16/I-95 Interchange, with additional bridge work at both the I-16/I-95 and I-16/I-516 interchanges.

Closures are scheduled to take place from Sunday, January 11, through Saturday, January 31, 2026. Daytime closures will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., affecting various sections of I-16 westbound and eastbound between the I-16/I-516 Interchange (MP 164) and the I-16/I-95 Interchange (MP 157), as well as both directions of I-516 at the I-16 Interchange from MP 5 to MP 6.

Nighttime closures are planned from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., including intermittent right and left lane closures on both directions of I-16 in the same segments. Double-lane closures will also be implemented on I-95 northbound and southbound at the I-16 overpass between MP 98 and MP 101.

A long-term closure continues for Tremont Road under I-16 until January 18, 2026. Detours are in place for motorists traveling on Tremont Road north or south of I-16, directing them via Telfair Road, West Gwinnett Street, and relevant exits to access their destinations.

Additional detours will be coordinated so that no more than one ramp is closed at a time within either the I-95/I-16 or the I-16/I-516 interchanges. Specific detour routes have been provided for affected ramps during overnight hours.

The schedule for all closures is subject to change based on weather conditions or other factors. For daily updates on traffic impacts and real-time alerts related to these projects, drivers are encouraged to visit Georgia NaviGAtor at www.511ga.org.
