The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on State Route 316 at Barber Creek Road in Barrow County as part of ongoing bridge beam setting operations. Weather permitting, a single left-lane closure will be in effect in both directions during scheduled work periods.
Daytime closures are set for Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with traffic pacing along SR 316 eastbound from SR 211 to Craft Road at Barber Creek Road. Nighttime closures will occur Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., with traffic pacing along SR 316 westbound from Craft Road to SR 211 at Barber Creek Road.
These activities are part of broader roadway improvements along SR 316 between Gwinnett County and Athens in Oconee County. The work at CR 329/Barber Creek Road is bundled with the project at SR 211/Bethlehem Road for procurement, final design, and construction.
Motorists are advised to reduce speed and remain alert when traveling through these zones due to the presence of workers and heavy equipment. Increased fines will be enforced for violations in these areas. Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be posted at each end of the project area to inform drivers about the upcoming work.
“Motorists are urged to reduce speed, stay alert, and exercise caution while traveling through work zones. With workers and heavy construction equipment present at all times, awareness is critical. Increased fines will be enforced in these areas to ensure compliance and safety. Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be placed at each end of the project to notify the public of the upcoming work.”
