The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced temporary lane closures as part of the ongoing I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. Weather permitting, these closures are scheduled to occur at various locations between July 4 and July 11, 2025.

The project aims to reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and add collector-distributor and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.

Daytime lane closures will take place from Tuesday, July 8, through Friday, July 11, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., affecting sections of I-20 Eastbound from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road. Additionally, flagging operations will be conducted on Snapfinger Road under the I-285 overpass and Miller Road between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Chatooga Drive during this period from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Overnight closures will begin on Monday, July 7, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuing each night through Friday, July 11. These will involve single to double lane closures on various segments of I-20 Eastbound and Westbound as well as I-285 Southbound and Northbound.

Specific restrictions apply from Thursday, July 3 at noon through Monday, July 7 at 10 p.m., during which no road closures or work that interferes with traffic flow will be conducted.

Furthermore, the Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025 due to ongoing construction work related to this project.

For further information about detours or other updates regarding this project or changes in scheduling due to weather conditions, Georgia DOT advises checking their official communications channels.
