The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced a series of lane closures and detours for the Transform 285/400 project. These restrictions are scheduled to take place between July 28 and August 2, 2025, as contractors complete punch list activities. The closures may cause delays, reduced speeds, and detours in affected areas.

According to GDOT, overnight lane closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on various days throughout the week. On Monday and Tuesday nights, one left lane on I-285 westbound from Lake Forest Drive to Long Island Drive will be closed. There will also be a closure of one left lane on SR 400 northbound collector-distributor lanes from Hammond Drive to Abernathy Road and one left lane on Abernathy Road eastbound at SR 400.

For those traveling from Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound, GDOT advises motorists to use SR 400 northbound and exit at Northridge Drive (Exit 6) before accessing SR 400 southbound via a detour route.

On Wednesday through Friday nights, the closure of one left lane on SR 400 northbound collector-distributor lanes from Hammond Drive to Abernathy Road is planned each night.

GDOT cautions that “Exact construction dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Pay attention and watch for workers.” The department encourages drivers to check real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting http://www.511ga.org/, or using the Georgia 511 app.

Residents with questions can contact GDOT by emailing transform285400@dot.ga.gov.
