Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will implement lane closures on Interstate 285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Long Island Road in Fulton County for a resurfacing project. The initiative involves maintenance activities on six miles of I-285 to enhance the roadway’s condition, providing smoother rides and improved lane striping.
Weather permitting, one left lane will be closed on I-285 westbound between the I-285/I-75 interchange and Paces Ferry Road from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9 until 6 a.m. on Saturday. Crews will focus on paving the left shoulder lane during this period.
The project has a budget of $30 million and is expected to be completed by fall 2025.
Motorists are advised to reduce speeds in the work zone, wear seatbelts, avoid distractions while driving, and plan their routes ahead by calling 511 for updates on work status and traffic conditions.
