The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a series of lane closures on Interstate 85 and State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road, impacting traffic from May 31 through June 7, 2025. These closures are part of ongoing construction efforts in DeKalb County.
Daytime closures will occur on Saturday, May 31, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., affecting one right lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road between SR 42/North Druid Hills Road and Cliff Valley Way.
Overnight closures are scheduled from Monday, June 2, to Saturday, June 7, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Various lanes on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound and westbound will be closed from Buford Highway to Briarcliff Road starting at 9 p.m. Additionally, pacing operations will take place at several intersections along SR 42/North Druid Hills Road.
Specific closures include one right lane on the I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound and one right lane on I-85 southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road until Wednesday. A new closure starts Wednesday for one right lane on the I-85 northbound frontage road from SR42/North Druid Hills Road to Cliff Valley Way.
Detours have been established for affected routes. Motorists traveling southbound on I-85 intending to access SR 42/North Druid Hills Road should continue southward and use Lenox Road (Exit 88) before heading north again to reach their destination. Similarly, those using the southbound Frontage Road should follow a detour via Clairmont Road.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while navigating these work zones. Real-time updates can be accessed by calling “511,” visiting “511ga.org,” or using the Georgia “511” app.
