The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced lane closures on Interstate 85 and State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road for construction activities. These closures are set to occur from May 9 through May 18, 2025, weather permitting.
Overnight lane closures will take place at various times and locations. From Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m., several lanes will be closed in both directions on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road between Buford Highway and Briarcliff Road. Additional closures include right/left lanes westbound from Tullie Road to I-85, as well as ramps connecting SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to I-85.
From Monday, May 12 to Saturday, May 17 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., more closures will affect three right lanes on I-85 northbound and southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road. Pacing operations are scheduled for intersections along SR 42/North Druid Hills Road starting at various times during the evening.
Specific detours have been outlined for motorists affected by these closures. Those traveling eastbound or westbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road towards I-85 northbound should use the Frontage Road and Clairmont Road as alternate routes.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while navigating these work zones. Real-time updates on traffic conditions can be accessed by calling “511,” visiting “511ga.org,” or using the Georgia “511” app.
