Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will continue resurfacing work on State Route 154/Memorial Drive from the Fulton County Line/Moreland Avenue to SR 10 in DeKalb County. The project aims to improve the condition of the deteriorating roadway and provide a smoother ride for drivers.
Weather permitting, on Sunday, June 29, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday morning, crews will implement alternating left and right “rolling” single lane closures on Memorial Drive throughout the project area as they apply permanent striping on the road.
The resurfacing project is valued at $5 million and is scheduled for completion in late summer 2025. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during project hours. Real-time information on work status and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
The Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs, and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways. They are involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs. GDOT also assists local governments in maintaining roads. With nearly 4,000 employees committed to innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility, GDOT aims to enhance Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.
