Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors are set to implement lane closures on Interstate 285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Long Island Bridge in Fulton County for a resurfacing project. This initiative aims to maintain six miles of I-285, enhancing the roadway’s condition and providing smoother rides and improved lane striping.
Weather permitting, the closures will begin with a single left lane closure on I-285 eastbound from the I-285/I-75 interchange at Paces Ferry Road to Long Island Bridge starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 16. The closure will switch to double left lanes at 8:00 p.m., lasting until 6 a.m. Saturday. During this period, crews will focus on paving the left shoulder lane.
The project carries an estimated cost of $30 million and is scheduled for completion by fall 2025.
Motorists are advised to reduce speed within the work zone, wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions while driving, and plan their routes by calling 511 for real-time updates on traffic conditions.
