Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will carry out overnight lane closures and traffic control operations as part of the Transform 285/400 project in Fulton County. The scheduled work, which is dependent on weather conditions, will focus on punch list activities such as traffic signal adjustments.

According to Georgia DOT, “Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will implement lane closures for punch list activities including traffic signal work. Traffic signals will remain operational, but intermittent traffic stops will occur. All emergency vehicles will maintain access to the hospitals while the work is being completed. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds, and detours in some areas.”

The planned closures are set for Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting Abernathy Road between Barfield Road and Peachtree Dunwoody Road, as well as Ashford Dunwoody Road at I-285. In addition to these locations, there will be overnight closures on I-285 westbound collector-distributor lanes to Roswell Road. Motorists using these lanes must take Exit 24 at Riverside Drive and then use I-285 eastbound to reach Exit 25 at Roswell Road.

Georgia DOT advises that “Exact construction dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Pay attention and watch for workers.” Real-time updates about the status of construction work and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511 or visiting http://www.511ga.org/.

Project details and detour maps are available online through the official I-285 & SR 400 Improvements page.
