Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will implement lane closures on Interstate 285 near Tucker, DeKalb County, this weekend. The closures are part of an ongoing concrete rehabilitation project on I-285 between Henderson Mill Road and State Road 8/Lawrenceville Highway.
Weather permitting, two right lanes will be closed in both directions between Northlake Parkway and Lawrenceville Highway from Friday, June 6, at 9 p.m. until Saturday morning at 5 a.m. The project aims to repair the deteriorating condition of the roadway and is scheduled for completion in summer 2025 with an estimated cost of $4.7 million.
Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed while traveling through the work zone during these hours. Georgia DOT encourages drivers to wear seatbelts, avoid distractions, and plan their routes by calling 511 or visiting 511ga.org for real-time updates on traffic conditions.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways in Georgia.
