Lane closures and detours are scheduled for the Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road project in DeKalb County from August 1 through August 10, 2025. The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that both daytime and overnight lane closures will affect traffic along SR 42/North Druid Hills Road between Buford Highway and Briarcliff Road.

Daytime closures are set for Saturday, August 2, and Saturday, August 9, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., with one left lane closed eastbound on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road. Overnight closures begin Friday, August 1, at 8 p.m. and continue into Saturday morning. Various lanes will be closed eastbound and westbound along the same stretch.

Additional overnight work is planned from Monday, August 4, through Sunday, August 10, with various lanes affected between Buford Highway and Briarcliff Road starting at 9 p.m. Pacing operations on both directions of North Druid Hills Road will also take place during this period.

Detours will be in effect for motorists seeking access to I-85 northbound from both directions on North Druid Hills Road. Drivers should use the I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to reach their destination. For those traveling on I-85 northbound wishing to exit onto North Druid Hills Road westbound or eastbound, detours via the Frontage Roads (Exit 89 B) are provided.

“Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones,” stated the Georgia Department of Transportation in its release. “Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.”
