The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced upcoming overnight lane closures and detours as part of ongoing work on the Transform 285/400 Project in Fulton County. The closures, scheduled from July 28 through August 2, 2025, are dependent on weather conditions and are necessary for contractors to complete punch list activities.
According to GDOT, travel restrictions may include possible delays, reduced speeds, and detours in certain areas. The department advises motorists to check the project web page frequently for updates on the work schedule and detour information.
The planned lane closures will take place during nighttime hours. On Monday, July 28 and Tuesday, July 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., one left lane will be closed on I-285 westbound between Lake Forest Drive and Long Island Drive; one left lane will be closed on SR 400 northbound collector-distributor lanes from Hammond Drive to Abernathy Road; and one left lane will be closed on Abernathy Road eastbound at SR 400.
Detours are also planned for motorists traveling from Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound. Drivers should use SR 400 northbound and Exit 6 Northridge Drive to access SR 400 southbound.
On Wednesday, July 30; Thursday, July 31; and Friday, August 1 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., one left lane will be closed each night on SR 400 northbound collector-distributor lanes from Hammond Drive to Abernathy Road.
