Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will conduct overnight lane closures on I-285 and SR 400 from August 4 through August 6, 2025, as part of the Transform 285/400 Project. The work involves punch list activities, including traffic signal adjustments. GDOT has stated that while signals will remain operational, there will be intermittent traffic stops during these periods.

Emergency vehicles will retain access to hospitals throughout the construction. Motorists are advised to expect possible delays, reduced speeds, and detours in certain areas. The agency noted that travel restrictions may change daily and recommends checking the project web page for updates.

The planned operations include overnight traffic control on Monday, August 4, and Tuesday, August 5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting Mount Vernon Highway between Barfield Road and Crestline Parkway; Abernathy Road between Barfield Road and Peachtree Dunwoody Road; and Ashford Dunwoody Road at I-285. Lane closures are also scheduled for SR 400 southbound collector-distributor lanes near North Springs MARTA and Roswell Road northbound at I-285.

Detours have been established for affected routes. For example, motorists traveling from Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound should use SR 400 northbound and Exit 6 Northridge Drive before accessing SR 400 southbound. Those heading from I-285 westbound CD lanes to Roswell Road will be directed via Exit 24 Riverside Drive and I-285 eastbound to reach Exit 25 Roswell Road.

“Exact construction dates may change due to weather or other factors,” according to GDOT. “Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Pay attention and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit http://www.511ga.org/or download the Georgia 511 app.”
