Lane closures will commence on June 1 for the demolition of a bridge as part of the I-20 at CR 249/Old Mill Road interchange project. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced alternating right- and left-lane closures on both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-20 from mile marker 102 to 104.5. These closures are expected to affect traffic flow in the area.
Daytime lane closures are scheduled from June 1 through June 23, with specific timings depending on the day. On weekends, closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., while weekday closures are set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the rest area.
The GDOT advises that exact closure times may change due to weather conditions and encourages motorists to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce speed in work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. To stay informed about work status and traffic conditions, motorists can call 511, visit the website at 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.
“Motorists should expect traffic pacing in the area,” stated GDOT officials.
