The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced weekend lane closures on Interstate 285 in DeKalb County. The closures will occur as part of a concrete rehabilitation project between Snapfinger Road and State Route 8/Lawrenceville Highway. This project aims to address the deteriorating condition of the roadway.
Weather permitting, three lanes will be closed on I-285 northbound near the exit for US 78/SR 410. Alternating closures for striping will also be implemented on both northbound and southbound lanes between Snapfinger Road and Lawrenceville Highway. These closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. on Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31 until 10 a.m. the following mornings.
The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed by January 2026 at an estimated cost of $7.3 million.
Motorists traveling in the area are advised to reduce their speeds in the work zone, wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions while driving, and plan their routes ahead of time. For real-time information on work status and traffic conditions, travelers can call 511 or visit the website at 511ga.org.
