The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced a series of lane closures as part of the State Route 400 Express Lanes project. The construction will add new express lanes in both directions along a 16-mile section of SR 400, stretching from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) North Springs Station in Fulton County to about one mile north of McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County.

According to GDOT, contractors will temporarily close traffic lanes at several locations to carry out roadwork activities. These closures are scheduled from Sunday, September 7 through Friday, September 12, each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.

On SR 400 southbound, single and double lane closures with shoulder restrictions will occur between SR 141 and Abernathy Road. Northbound traffic will see similar single and double lane closures from Abernathy Road up to SR 141. Additional ramp and lane closures are planned for other locations including McFarland Parkway entrances and exits, Webb Bridge Road, Union Hill Road, Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Colquitt Road, Holcomb Bridge Road, Haynes Bridge Road, Mansell entrances and exits, Windward Parkway entrances and exits, Northridge exits and entrances, and the MARTA station ramps.

Motorists are advised to expect delays during these times. Drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling through work zones. GDOT recommends checking the SR 400 Express Lanes website for schedule updates or using real-time resources such as calling “511,” visiting https://511ga.org/, or downloading the “Georgia 511” app for current traffic conditions.

GDOT also stated that any information provided by motorists will be used solely by the department for its purposes. The department does not share personal information with third parties for marketing.
