Contractors working for the Georgia Department of Transportation will carry out lane closures as part of the Transform 285/400 Project. The closures are scheduled to take place from August 4 through August 6, 2025, and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
The work includes punch list activities such as traffic signal adjustments. According to the department, “Traffic signals will remain operational, but intermittent traffic stops will occur. All emergency vehicles will maintain access to the hospitals while the work is being completed. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds, and detours in some areas.”
Overnight operations are planned for Monday, August 4, and Tuesday, August 5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting Mount Vernon Highway between Barfield Road and Crestline Parkway; Abernathy Road between Barfield Road and Peachtree Dunwoody Road; and Ashford Dunwoody Road at I-285.
Lane closures during these times include one left lane on SR 400 southbound collector-distributor lanes near North Springs MARTA and one right lane on Roswell Road northbound at I-285.
Detours have been established for motorists traveling on Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound, who should use SR 400 northbound and Exit 6 Northridge Drive to access SR 400 southbound. Additionally, those using I-285 westbound CD lanes to Roswell Road will be directed via Exit 24 Riverside Drive and I-285 eastbound to reach Exit 25 Roswell Road.
“Work schedule updates can be made daily. Check project web page often for the latest updates. Detour information is shown using red text,” the department stated.
The Georgia Department of Transportation advises drivers that exact construction dates may shift due to weather or other factors. Motorists are urged to reduce speed in work zones and remain alert for workers. Real-time information about work status and traffic conditions is available by calling 511 or visiting http://www.511ga.org/.
