The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced planned lane closures around Interstate 85 and State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road, due to construction activities. The closures are expected between May 2 and May 11, 2025, with weather permitting.
According to the department, traffic impacts will include both daytime and overnight closures. Daytime closures on Saturday, May 3, will affect one right turn lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to Cliff Valley Way, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Overnight closures will begin on Friday, May 2, from 8 p.m. to Saturday, May 3, at 6 a.m. These will involve three right and left lanes on I-85 southbound at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road, a specific set of periods from Friday to Sunday, and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
From Sunday, May 4, through Saturday, May 10, additional evening and overnight closures continue on I-85 northbound and SR 42, involving various lanes and pacing at intersections including Children’s Driveway, New Executive Park Drive, and Buford Highway.
Detours have been scheduled for SR 42/North Druid Hills Road, directing motorists traveling eastbound and westbound to use designated routes utilizing I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road to access different areas within the construction zone.
The public is advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and follow reduced speed limits within work zones. Updates on traffic conditions and construction-related changes can be obtained by contacting 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
