Lane closures on SR 155/Candler Road in DeKalb County are scheduled to take place over the weekend, as contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) continue a resurfacing project between Interstate 20 and State Route 10/E College Avenue. The resurfacing aims to improve road quality and provide a smoother ride for drivers.
Weather permitting, one lane will be closed either northbound or southbound on SR 155/Candler Road from Memorial Drive to E. College Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on Friday, May 2. Crews plan to lower manholes and water valves and address the most damaged road sections during these hours. Flaggers will be on site to manage traffic flow through the lane closures.
The project carries a budget of $3 million and is expected to be completed by fall 2025. Motorists are advised to prepare for delays, drive cautiously, and adhere to speed reductions while passing through the work zones. For updates on work status and traffic conditions, drivers can access information by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app.
Georgia DOT, responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining the state’s roadways, also supports public transit, bike, and pedestrian programs. With a workforce of nearly 4,000 employees, the department is focused on delivering a transportation system centered on innovation, safety, and mobility.
