The League of American Workers has released the results of its late-July survey, which polled nearly 3,000 voters in Georgia. The findings indicate that Republicans hold modest advantages in favorability and ballot preference. However, widespread voter dissatisfaction with the economy poses a potential threat to this lead as the midterm elections approach.
According to American Greatness, Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, warns Republicans that their handling of the economy could lead to voter backlash if corrective measures are not taken. In a new memo, Cortes points out persistent high prices and a weakening U.S. dollar as daily frustrations for families at checkout lines. Although inflation has decreased from its peak under President Biden, Cortes emphasizes record costs for essentials such as beef, chicken, and bananas. He also notes currency erosion prompting investors to turn to bitcoin, gold, and foreign markets.
Cortes states that polling in Georgia reveals voters trust Republicans on issues like crime and immigration but blame them for deteriorating household finances. Among independents and women, nearly half now rate Trump-era economic management poorly. “People are angry about the economy,” he said.
Cortes suggests that Republicans should move away from “it’s not as bad as Biden” rhetoric towards a proactive economic message. He advocates for media campaigns highlighting trade successes and onshoring achievements, direct tariff rebate checks to working families, new taxes on remittances, and restrictions on foreign worker visas amid AI-driven job losses. “Bottom line: Americans are still angry,” he said. “Still anxious. For good reason! Respect them, listen to them. You cannot ‘chart’ them into optimism. Show them the fight, show them the path out—and prove it…with action, action, action.”
Steve Cortes is recognized as a political commentator and financial market expert with experience as a former campaign strategist for Trump campaigns.
