Steve Cortes, President of the League of American Workers, said that Senator Jon Ossoff is not aligned with Georgia’s values and predicted a likely defeat for him in the upcoming election. This statement was made during an interview.

“Jon Ossoff does not remotely reflect the values of Georgia,” said Cortes. “and will soon be retired by the voters there.”

According to Blue Delaware, lawmakers in March 2025 prioritized the issue of transgender athlete participation in women’s sports. Multiple state legislatures introduced or advanced bills aimed at regulating eligibility based on sex assigned at birth. The report notes that this policy area has become a prominent feature of legislative agendas and campaign messaging in the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections. These developments are part of a broader national trend of legislative action on school athletics eligibility requirements.

The Daily Signal reports that a May 2025 Cygnal poll showed Republican Mike Collins with a slight lead over incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s U.S. Senate race, with Collins at 45.7% and Ossoff at 44.3%. This closely watched poll sampled 800 likely voters and found that topics like transgender athlete participation remain highly divisive among Georgia’s electorate. The poll’s margin of error was 3.5 percentage points, reflecting a statistically competitive race heading into 2026.

Reuters reports that in January 2025, the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill banning transgender women and girls from participating in women’s sports teams at federally funded schools nationwide. Supporters argued that the measure was necessary to ensure competitive fairness in women’s sports, while critics maintained it discriminates against transgender youth and could negatively affect their mental health. This debate reflects a growing national trend, with numerous states considering or enacting similar legislation targeting transgender participation in athletics.

Cortes is the founder and president of the League of American Workers, which describes itself as “a voice of the deplorables” known for advancing principles such as national sovereignty, diffusion of power, and populist economics. He first appeared on television in 2007 as a financial markets commentator for CNBC before becoming an analyst for Fox News and CNN. He later transitioned into political roles as spokesman and senior strategist for Donald Trump’s presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020, focusing on outreach efforts targeting Hispanic voters.
