The Little League organization announced on May 26 that all 22 games of the 2026 Little League Softball World Series, presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, will be broadcast on linear ESPN platforms for the first time in the event’s history. The announcement comes as part of a broader slate of activities and events set for what organizers are calling another memorable Summer of Softball.

“From the grassroots level to the biggest stage in youth sports, our commitment to providing elevated opportunities for girls and growing the game of softball across the globe is stronger now than ever before,” said Patrick Wilson, Little League President and CEO. “The progress we have continued to see in our softball program reflects the passion and impact of the sport, and we remain focused on expanding access, investing in our players, and delivering a one-of-a-kind experience for every athlete. With the support of our friends at AUSL and ESPN, along with our many Official Partners, we look forward to another exciting Summer of Softball and bringing the joy of the game to families all around the world.”

Since launching its Girls with Game Initiative in 2019, Little League has seen a reported 25% increase in softball teams. This initiative has expanded beyond celebration into foundational investments that include new training opportunities for coaches and volunteers; resources supporting equipment, registration, field accessibility; and partnerships aimed at building visibility around girls’ participation.

“The incredible growth we’ve seen is proof that when we invest intentionally in access, visibility, and experience, families and players thrive,” said Ashlea Miller, Little League Director of Softball Development. “As we continue to build pathways from local leagues to the global stage, Little League remains committed to creating unforgettable opportunities that empower every girl to play, compete, and believe she belongs in this game.”

Other highlights this summer include alumnae competing at both collegiate levels such as the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) as well as professionally through an expanded Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) season featuring six teams—two more than last year—with several former Little Leaguers among their rosters. The league will also continue community engagement through clinics and special events hosted nationwide.

Additional scheduled events include live announcements for first-round pairings during National Little League Week from June 8-14 via YouTube.com/LittleLeague; over 150 softball games aired across ESPN platforms culminating with ABC’s coverage of August’s championship game; October’s Girls with Game Experience exhibition weekend at Howard J. Lamade Stadium; merchandise promotions; plus recognition activities tied into World Softball Day on June 13.
