Burt Jones, the lieutenant governor of Georgia, expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club of Roswell for hosting him and emphasized his commitment to building on legislative achievements, including school choice and foster care reforms.

“Thank you Rotary Club of Roswell and Senator John Albers for the warm welcome to Roswell today,” said Jones. “I enjoyed meeting with the members and discussing some of our legislative wins on behalf of Georgia’s families, like foster care system support and ensuring parents have school choice when it comes to their child’s education. I look forward to working with this group to build on these successes during the 2026 session.”

Jones’ visit to the Rotary Club highlighted his focus on policies aimed at strengthening Georgia families and empowering parents. Since taking office in 2023, he has prioritized educational freedom and child welfare reforms. His remarks pointed to bipartisan support for legislation that improves foster care oversight and expands school choice programs, aligning with his broader agenda to provide families with more control over education and opportunities across the state.

In 2025, Georgia lawmakers advanced key family-centered legislation championed by Jones. The measures included increased funding for foster family recruitment and tax credits for adoption-related expenses. The legislature also passed a significant expansion of school choice, allowing state scholarship funds to follow students to accredited private or alternative schools. These initiatives are part of Jones’ long-term effort to ensure Georgia remains one of the most family-friendly and education-forward states in the nation.

Georgia’s school choice program has expanded steadily over the past decade. According to the Georgia Department of Education, more than 17,000 students utilized scholarship accounts or voucher options in 2025, marking a 22% increase from the previous year. Surveys indicate strong parental support, particularly among rural and working-class families. Jones has presented these results as evidence that empowering parents leads to better educational outcomes and strengthens community ties.

Burt Jones serves as Georgia’s 13th lieutenant governor, elected in 2022 after two terms in the state senate. A businessman from Jackson, Georgia, he has built his political career on promoting pro-family policies, lower taxes, and school choice initiatives. As presiding officer of the Georgia Senate, Jones has collaborated closely with legislative leaders to advance education reform, child welfare improvements, and economic development initiatives aimed at strengthening communities statewide.
