Burt Jones, the lieutenant governor of Georgia, has expressed a firm stance against hate-fueled violence and affirmed ongoing support for Israel. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

“The news out of Colorado today is heartbreaking and devastating,” said Jones. “Targeted acts of violence against anyone will not be tolerated. There is no place for hate in our state, nation or world. Our commitment to Israel and its people will not waver.”

According to The Washington Post, a violent incident occurred at a pro-Israel event in Boulder, Colorado. A suspect reportedly threw Molotov cocktails and used a flamethrower on participants, resulting in injuries to 15 individuals, including an elderly Holocaust survivor. The attack, which took place in June 2025 and was linked to anger over Israeli actions in Gaza, shocked the community and prompted widespread condemnation. It also led to vigils and heightened security concerns for Jewish gatherings across the nation.

As reported by the Crime and Justice Research Alliance, antisemitic hate crimes in the United States increased by 12% in 2023. Both Colorado and Georgia were among the states experiencing significant rises. Colorado documented 34 religiously motivated hate crimes, nearing previous peak levels. This increase has sparked calls for enhanced legal measures and community protections.

According to Al-Shabaka and state legislative records, since 2015, 38 U.S. states have enacted laws supporting Israel or countering Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movements. New legislation introduced in 2024 aims to broaden definitions of antisemitism and tighten funding regulations for public institutions. This state-level initiative reflects growing concern over antisemitism and bipartisan political support for Israel.

According to the official Georgia Lieutenant Governor’s website, Jones became Georgia’s 13th Lieutenant Governor in 2023 after serving a decade in the state senate. A business owner from Jackson County, he aligns with conservative fiscal policies and was an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump. He oversees senate operations and influences legislative priorities throughout the state.
