Last week, Lt. Governor Burt Jones appointed Senator RaShaun Kemp of Atlanta to the Senate Study Committee on Combating Chronic Absenteeism in Schools.
Senator Kemp expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating, “I’m honored to be appointed by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones to serve on the Senate Study Committee on Combating Chronic Absenteeism in Schools.” He emphasized his experience as a former educator and his commitment to supporting students, educators, and families both inside and outside the classroom. Kemp added, “I look forward to bringing that experience to the table as we explore real, lasting solutions that help every child show up, stay engaged and succeed.”
The committee’s mission is to collaborate with school administrators, educators, parents, policymakers, and community organizations to develop effective strategies for addressing absenteeism in Georgia schools.
