Second-year law student McKay L. Powers has been named a Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellow, according to a June 3 announcement from the University of Georgia School of Law. The fellowship is described as being “committed to inspiring the best and brightest law students to pursue careers in child welfare law.”
The recognition highlights Powers’ commitment to child welfare legal issues and places her among a select group of law students nationwide chosen for this honor.
The University of Georgia School of Law has received national attention for its achievements in advocacy competitions, experiential learning opportunities through 18 clinics and externships, high graduate employment rates, and the maintenance of extensive resources at the Alexander Campbell King Law Library, according to the official website. The school is ranked No. 22 by U.S. News & World Report and recognized for value by National Jurist; it also serves a diverse student body with strong academic profiles while focusing on redefining excellence in national public legal education through superior teaching and community service, according to the official website.
