Neel’s Lofts held its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 462 Cherry Street on May 28, officially opening its doors to the public in downtown Macon. The event was attended by community members, local leaders, and representatives from NewTown Macon and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.
The new construction project brings 95 luxury loft residences to downtown, along with an on-site coworking space, two retail spaces, and one restaurant space. Developed by H2 Capital and built by Piedmont Construction Group, Neel’s Lofts aims to serve as a live-work destination for residents. NewTown Macon partnered with the development team throughout the project. All residential units are now move-in ready, while commercial spaces are also available for lease.
“Downtown Macon has been on the rise for years, and I think a lot of people are starting to feel it,” said James Fritze, President and CEO of NewTown Macon. “Neel’s Lofts is the kind of project that gives people a reason to plant roots here. We have been working toward a downtown where people do not just visit, they stay. Today is proof that we are getting there.”
Robbo Hatcher, developer and principal at H2 Capital, said: “I have believed in this city for a long time, and this project is a reflection of that. We built something here that Macon deserves, a place where people can live well right in the middle of everything they love about this city. Seeing it come to life today makes every bit of the work worth it.” Mark Lumsden, Project Manager at Piedmont Construction Group, said: “This was a labor of love for our team. New construction in a downtown environment comes with its own set of challenges, and our crew showed up for every one of them. We are proud of what we built, and we are even prouder to hand the keys over to a community that has been ready for this.”
Residential leasing is open now with tours available; applications can be submitted through neelslofts.com. The official grand opening will take place later this summer.
The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce serves businesses across Macon County through networking opportunities and advocacy efforts aimed at economic vitality and quality-of-life improvements, according to the official website.
