A new traffic pattern will be implemented at the intersection of SR 42 (Brookwood Avenue) and SR 16 (W 3rd Street) in Jackson, Butts County. The change is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025, and will remain in effect until construction is complete.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, all lanes of travel will be placed in the roundabout at this intersection. The shift is necessary to finish building truck aprons and splitter islands on each leg of the roundabout.
“If one-lane traffic shifts are necessary, traffic control personnel will be deployed to minimize congestion during ongoing construction. This will be contained within the work zone during the working hours of 9 am to 3 pm daily,” stated officials.
The department also noted that dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed while traveling through work zones. For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, drivers can call 511, visit https://511ga.org/, or download the Georgia 511 app.
