Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced the activation of a new signalized intersection on State Route 196/Veterans Parkway in Hinesville. The new traffic signals, located at the driveways of Walmart and Lowes, are set to be operational starting Wednesday, June 4.
The City of Hinesville received a permit from Georgia DOT for this project. Contractors have already installed and covered the new signals. Message boards will be positioned this week to inform drivers about the upcoming activation.
Local law enforcement will manage traffic control during the activation process to ensure safety. However, the schedule is weather-dependent and may change if necessary.
Motorists are urged to pay close attention to traffic control devices, signs, and speed limits as they adjust to the new signals. Delays are expected, so drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling through work zones.
For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, motorists can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.
Georgia DOT is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways in Georgia.
