The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that a new signalized intersection will be activated on Wednesday, September 3, at US 84 and Flemington Village Boulevard in the City of Flemington, Liberty County.

According to the DOT, a developer working under a Commercial Driveway Permit installed and covered the traffic signals and modified the median to improve mobility and safety at this intersection. Message boards have been placed to notify drivers about the upcoming signal activation. The activation date is dependent on weather conditions and may change if necessary.

“Motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits as drivers become acclimated to the new signal location.”

An advisory from DOT also states: “Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.”

The Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways across Georgia. The agency also manages programs related to bridges, waterways, public transit, rail systems, general aviation infrastructure as well as bike and pedestrian routes. It assists local governments with road maintenance throughout the state. The department employs nearly 4,000 people focused on improving transportation innovation, safety measures, sustainability efforts and overall mobility within Georgia’s network.

“Georgia DOT and its nearly 4,000 employees are committed to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility. The Department’s vision is to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.”
