The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has introduced two digital tools to assist stakeholders in Georgia in comprehending the economic implications of the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction. These tools aim to illustrate the potential outcomes if Congress does not make this deduction permanent.

An interactive map is available for users to examine how extending the Small Business Deduction could foster job creation and GDP growth across every congressional district in Georgia. Additionally, a tax calculator offers small business owners personalized estimates of potential increases in federal income taxes by 2026 if the deduction expires.

“These tools really highlight just how important the 20% Small Business Deduction is for Georgia’s small businesses,” stated NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins. “If Congress doesn’t act, local businesses could face a major tax hike. That would mean fewer jobs and greater uncertainty for small business owners trying to plan for the future.”

Data from NFIB’s interactive map suggests that extending the deduction could lead to an increase of 75,000 jobs and $4.2 billion in GDP over ten years in Georgia. The detailed district-level information helps lawmakers understand how local communities might benefit or suffer based on whether this tax relief becomes permanent.

The tax calculator allows individual small business owners to estimate their potential tax increases if the deduction ends. For instance, a Georgian small business owner with a personal income of $75,000 and qualified business income of $150,000 might face a tax rise exceeding $13,000 depending on their financial situation.

NFIB also commended the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the One Big Beautiful Act, calling it “one of the most pro-small business pieces of legislation in recent history.” This legislation presents an opportunity for Congress to offer permanent tax relief to over 33 million small business owners.
