The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that the western left lane of Interstate 20 in Carroll County will be closed for maintenance on Monday, March 23. The closure will take place between mileposts 24.3 and 24.0 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The lane closure is expected to cause delays for motorists traveling through the area. Drivers are advised to exercise caution, reduce speed, and watch for crews working near traffic during this period.

According to the department, real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions are available by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app. Maintenance teams continue their essential work while following sanitary practices recommended by health agencies to protect both workers and the public from coronavirus exposure.

The department also noted that these safety measures align with those being followed by most state departments of transportation across the United States.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and stay informed about changing road conditions as maintenance activities proceed.
