The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced that overnight lane closures are scheduled on Interstate 285 between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive. These closures will take place from Friday, August 8, through Monday, August 11, as part of ongoing work for the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project.
Weather permitting, contractors will close two right lanes and the right shoulder on I-285 eastbound from Riverside Drive to Roswell Road each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will also be overnight closures of two left lanes near the median on I-285 westbound in the same area during these hours.
According to GDOT, “The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project extends the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstructs the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.”
The project is included in the Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP), which aims to increase road capacity, improve freight movement, enhance safety, and decrease travel times across Georgia’s transportation network. Drivers are advised that schedules may change due to weather conditions. Additional intermittent traffic pacing and ramp closures could occur within the work zone. GDOT urges motorists to expect delays, exercise caution, reduce speed in work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
