Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors are set to implement overnight lane closures on Interstate 285 westbound. The closures will take place from Friday, June 27, through Saturday, June 28, weather permitting. These closures are part of ongoing median construction work and the removal and installation of overhead signs.
The affected area includes two left lanes on I-285 westbound between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive. The closure will occur from 8 p.m. Friday night until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Motorists should anticipate traffic pacing in this region.
This project is part of the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project, which aims to extend the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstruct the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285. It is one of several I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects designed to increase capacity, improve freight movement, enhance safety, and reduce travel times across Georgia’s transportation network.
Motorists are advised that the schedule may change due to weather conditions. Intermittent traffic pacing and additional lane and ramp closures may also occur within the work zone. Drivers should expect delays, exercise caution, reduce speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert for workers, and check real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511 or visiting 511ga.org.
