Motorists traveling along State Route 400 should expect overnight lane closures beginning Sunday, August 3, as part of the ongoing SR 400 Express Lanes project. The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announced that contractors will close various lanes and shoulders between the MARTA North Springs Station in Fulton County and north of McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County to allow for roadwork.

The closures will affect both northbound and southbound directions on SR 400 from mile marker 8 at Abernathy Road to mile marker 27 at SR 141. Work is scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Sunday, August 3, through Friday, August 8. Affected areas include inside and outside lane closures as well as exit ramps, such as the ramp to Abernathy Road (Exit 5C).

Additional closures are planned for Holcomb Bridge Road westbound and associated exit ramps from Market Blvd to Dogwood Road during the same overnight hours.

The express lanes project covers approximately 16 miles along SR 400, aiming to improve traffic flow between key points in Fulton and Forsyth counties.

“Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation’s contractors will temporarily close traffic lanes at the areas identified below to perform roadwork activities on the SR 400 Express Lanes project.”

Drivers are advised by Georgia DOT to anticipate delays, use caution, and reduce speed when passing through work zones. The department encourages motorists to check for schedule updates on the SR 400 Express Lanes website or get real-time information about work status and traffic conditions by calling “511,” visiting https://511ga.org/, or using the “Georgia 511” app.

“The information you provide to the Georgia Department of Transportation will be used solely by Georgia DOT. The Department does not sell or offer a subscriber’s personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.”

Updates about future schedules may occur depending on weather conditions and project progress.
