Paleteria La Providencia, a company based in Smyrna, Georgia, has announced a voluntary recall of its paleta popsicle products due to potential Listeria contamination. The affected items include coconut ice cream popsicles with a date code of 6/17/25, cookies and cream ice cream popsicles with the same date code, and coffee ice cream popsicles dated 6/11/25.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) Food Safety division is collaborating with the manufacturer to identify businesses that received these potentially contaminated products. Consumers may have purchased them from mobile frozen dessert carts or convenience stores in the Atlanta area. The issue was discovered following routine testing that showed positive results for Listeria species.

Listeria can lead to severe infections in vulnerable populations such as young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. While healthy people might experience only short-term symptoms like fever and nausea, the infection poses significant risks to pregnant women, including miscarriages and stillbirths.

No illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers experiencing symptoms are advised to contact the Georgia Department of Public Health at 1-866-PUB-HLTH (1-866-782-4584).
